Medical Billing & Coding Tech Job Description
ECO Family Health Center, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Medical Billing & Coding Technician to work at the ECO Family Health Center Administration Building. Applicant must have strong computer skills and billing and coding experience is preferred. This is a full-time position. Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M.

Essential Functions:
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Will be responsible for diagnosis and procedure coding for all ECOFHC locations.
Assists CEO/CFO with reporting requirements as needed.
Reviews medical record documentation to identify all services provided by providers.
Assigns appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis code(s) to accurately support the need for each provider.
Assigns appropriate CPT-4 procedure code(s) to accurately report the provider services provided to patients.
Working rejected claims or denials of claims.
Identifies physician services provided, but not adequately documented in the medical record.
Approval and entry of Sliding Fee Discount Schedule Applications and Proof of Income
Patient Account Statements
Patient Account Collections
Advises supervisor and clinicians of deficiencies to support charge capture of all billing services.
Analyzes and resolves physician claim rejects and denials from the billing system or insurance carriers related to coding issues.
Assist in patient collections
Patient account representative
Participate in virtual and in-person trainings
Carries out additional duties as assigned.

Communications:
Internal: Daily contact with CFO on matters pertaining to ECO Family Health Center business. Daily contact with ECO Family Health Center personnel.
External: Contact with patients of ECO Family Health Center.
Qualifications:
Education: Experience in ECO Family Health Center Policies and Procedures, Attention to detail
Experience: Three years’ experience preferred in coding.
Physical Requirements:
Must be active, have the use of both hands and legs, bend, twist, squat, walk have good eyesight, good hearing, mentally quick and active.
Requires physical stamina to fulfill the duties of this position.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Accuracy/Dexterity:
Must be exact in work,
Must be able to spot conditions or circumstances which might lead to mistakes.
Must have good eye-hand coordination;
Must have manual dexterity;
Must be ambidextrous to a certain extent.
Mental Ability:
Must be able to exercise full mental application at all times and under a variety of conditions;
Must be able to shift attention from one subject to another with ease;
Must have a receptive and retentive mind;
Must be able to make decisions and
Must be able to accept criticism or recommendations without becoming hostile or mentally disturbed.
